Mariela Continenza is a well-known Spanish instructor in the Twin Cities, who is originally from Caracas, Venezuela. She received her bachelor’s degree from the Universitad Catolica Andres Bello in language teaching. She has been an interpreter in medical settings and at 3M Company. Mariela has also served as an adjunct instructor for several Twin Cities’ community colleges. Sra. Continenza co-ordinated Spanish training for the Venezuela State Department of Humanities.

With Marlene Schoenberg, she has presented advanced Spanish training to speech pathologists at a unique Spanish Retreat at Wilder Forest for three years. They also presented together on “Practica en Español” at the American Speech and Hearing Association in San Francisco.

Mariela has led educational tours in Spain and studied at the University of Salamanca. She has taught beginning Spanish to employees at the City of Minneapolis.

                                              

Amy Chouinard is a speech/language pathologist who received her bachelor’s degree from Marquette University and master’s degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Minnesota. She has been a research associate through Ethnic Communication Arts and assisted with the Minneapolis Taxi Driver’s Survey and the Via Voice Project with Hearing Impaired Adults. She is the master clinician at Kidspeak in the Twin Cities where she provides in home speech and language therapy to children.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Thomasyne Hill Williams has been an assistant Professor at University of Montevallo in Birmingham, Alabama. She is the principal consultant in Hill Communication Consultants and an EthCom associate . Ms. Schoenberg collaborated with Dr. Hill in developing a Civil Rights workshop presented at William Mitchell Law School based on Dr. Hill’s experience as an eye witness to the 1963 Birmingham church bombings. She has also been an educational speech/language pathologist in Alabama schools.

 

 

 

 

Martina Arrington Villarson– Martina is a bilingual speech/language pathologist (Spanish/ English) who serves public school students in the Atlantic City area of New Jersey. She also has her own private practice providing bilingual evaluations throughout southern New Jersey. She earned her master’s degree in speech/language pathology from Temple University in Philadelphia. In addition to New Jersey, she has taught in the Dominican Republic and has close ties to French speakers from Haiti. Martina has  has also worked with adults.
